So our first day trip we went to with the group was to Bellinzona on Sunday the 17th. It was great and I loved every minute of it. Bellinzona is located north of Riva San Vitale, about a 45 minute train ride. Bellizona has three castles that were used to protect the city from invaders. The Castles were connected by a wall that ran the length of the Ticino Valley, preventing traders, invaders and anyone to head north without passing through Bellinzona. In Bellinzona, we toured the CastleGrande, which is the main, large castle, as well as travel through the castle walls and to the other castles around the town. We then toured the town a little bit and had some coffee in the town center. Bellinzona was a lot of fun and I had a good time. Additionally, it provided our first test in riding the train system here in Europe. Swiss train cars are the best. The ride is smooth, the cars are climate controlled and the views are amazing. I am attaching a lot of pictures of the trip. For the rest, see Facebook.
